Summer Lovin’

What should one expect the weather to be like in Alaska? Most say come prepared for anything! The weather in Alaska can be challenging and unpredictable. The weather gets rainier as summer progresses, however newlyweds Brooke and James experienced complete sunshine for their June wedding.

“Nine times out of 10, anything outdoors you try to plan will undoubtedly be ruined by the rain, but we got lucky,” shared the bride.

The two were married on what they described as a “very unseasonably hot day” in their hometown on June 29, 2019, surrounded by friends and family.

“It was 90 degrees, a beautiful, sunny June day,” said the bride.

The groom’s grandparents, who have been married for over 50 years, officiated the wedding, sharing in laughter and smiles. It was a grand and special time.

Traveling all the way from Louisiana, James’s family joined the couple to celebrate. Brooke and James shared their “I do’s” at Hilcorp Kidney Lake Recreation Site. A hot summer’s day called for a swim!

“We got married by a lake and then swam into to cool off,” shared the couple. “It was the most perfect day!”

Bride’s Special Moment

“My dad died when I was 17 and since then it’s been hard to imagine such an important day of my life without him being apart,” said the bride.

Brooke had her mother’s boyfriend and her uncle walk her down the aisle, cherishing the moment. “It meant so much to have them there for me,” she smiled.
