Near the foothills of the Blue Mountains outside of Dayton, WA, Mikala and Reed tied the knot on a farm they shared on June 15, 2019.
“As farmers and ranchers tend to do, we chose to get married on one of our farms,” shared the bride. “We chose my parent’s home in a new equipment shed, DeRuwe Shop, which made the perfect mix of an indoor and outdoor venue.”
The couple had started dating their junior year of high school. They both moved to Montana for several years where they graduated college. Moving back home, they decided to farm together, a memory the bride described as an “incredible piece” to their wedding day story.
“It was the perfect day surrounded by friends and family with great food and a gorgeous view with memories that will last us a lifetime,” the couple shared.
Holding her bouquet from My Garden Overfloweth, Mikala glowed in her Believe Bride dress as she walked down the aisle. To accentuate the look, the bride wore her grandmother’s necklace.
“I was unable to wear my grandmother's wedding dress, so instead I wore a beautiful necklace she brought back from Brazil,” said Mikala. “She passed two years ago and it meant so much to me to carry a piece of her with me on my big day.”
The couple was overwhelmed with joy as friends and family gathered to celebrate their love.
One of Reed’s fraternity brothers officiated the wedding and read “the sweetest” cowboy poem for the newlyweds.
“We had so many special touches that made the day more personal,” they shared.
The day was described as very casual and laidback, where friends and family could spend time in comfortable attire, share in the laughs with one another, and let loose if need be. Sandy's U-Rent provided tables and chairs where the happy guests shared delicious food from Tate's Mercantile, cupcakes from Frosted, and great music from The Froghollow Band.
“My dad and I conspired to have a father-daughter dance where I danced with him for part of the song and then we had the band announce for each of my sisters to take over and dance with my him as well,” laughed the bride.
The couple happily looks back on the day through photos taken by Annelise Michelle Photography and smile.
“All you need is love and a show calf.”
