We love hearing proposal stories and this one, in particular, sounded absolutely adorable! Megan got engaged on January 26th, 2018 on the couple’s six-year anniversary.
“For our anniversary we went ice skating at Riverfront Park at the new ice ribbon,” said Megan. “We went ice skating on our very first date and we hadn’t been since. After skating for about a half an hour, we pulled into a section off the ice where there was a small fire pit,” she sighed. “He asked me what I wanted to do after ice skating, and I said I wasn’t sure… Next thing I know he’s getting down on one knee, which is not easy to do in ice skates,” she laughed. “He responded with, well whatever we decide to do after this, will you go as my fiancé and asked me to marry him,” she smiled. “With the beautiful rose gold, opal ring, I, obviously, said yes!”
To top that proposal, the couple were married July 7, 2019, on the 7th day, of the 7th month, during their 7th year of being together. Swoon!
“We did things a little different than what people traditionally did,” shared Megan. We became a blended family, had our first son, bought a house, had a second son, got engaged, and then finally got married! I had my daughter as my flower girl. Both of our gorgeous dresses were from Believe Bride. So our wedding was very special and long-anticipated!”
They had a ceremony in the backyard of their house surrounded by their close family and friends. The loving couple met as freshmen but started to date their senior year of high school. Their high school principal officiated their wedding, making the day even more special. Jessica Hatch and Luxe Salon & Spa helped Megan with her makeup as Jessica Vanpatten at Salon Nouveau did her hair.
After the short and sweet ceremony, they met the rest of their guests at the Bozarth Mansion and Retreat Center for “one hell of a reception!”
Lucas Brookbank Brown and Paul Flores provided the music for the dancing crowd while Alicia Hauff Photography captured the moves and smiles. All enjoyed the yummy catering from Luigi’s Italian Restaurant and the splendorous bouquets from Rose and blossom. The couple danced to First Day of My Life by Bright Lights.
“Everyone had so much fun at our beautiful venue,” shared the couple. “It’s crazy how fast that day flew by, but it was by far the best day of our lives!”
Bride’s Special Moment:
Having several, the Believe Bride shared that her mother and sister helped her into her dress minutes before walking downstairs for the ceremony.
“My first look with my dad was so special, we both burst into tears!”
Having their ceremony in their own backyard with their beautiful homestead garden made everything feel like home. “I got to drive in my husband’s awesome Volkswagen Vanagon and my photographer actually caught the bouquet while photographing it,” shared Megan.
The couple enjoyed spending a kid-free night with one another at the Davenport penthouse after the celebration.
We wish the best to the happy newlyweds. Congratulations to Megan and Nathan Kitchell!
