Abby + Jacob

Happy Anniversary to these two! A year ago, on August 8, 2020, these two said I do in one of the most beautiful weddings we have seen. We know that the past year hasn’t been the easiest, but we hope that being newlyweds made it a little bit special.

Cheers!

The Proposal: Jake had a perfect date night planned out - a fancy dinner at a really expensive restaurant followed by a walk at our favorite spot. Plans changed as we saw amazing looking pizza on the way and went for that, then got some ice cream. We continued to watch the sunset at one of our favorite spots, Table Rock. Jake popped the question and there was no hesitancy to say YES!

The Big Day: Our wedding was amazing! It was truly a blend of both families coming together to help make it happen. It took place at my Uncle's ranch outside of Lewiston, Idaho in the Craig mountains. There's a 10 mile bumpy, dirt road up to the venue, so we really made our guests go on an adventure! Our ceremony was near the pond in the pines and our reception was just a walk away in a covered barn area for our guests. The theme was rustic chic and everything fit just that! Our colors were dusty blue and green, which was beautiful in this setting! It wouldn't have been possible without my mom and her friends who planned everything. It was hard work to get all the materials we needed up in the mountains, but it was amazing to see my whole family come together to help make it happen and make sure the day was perfect for us! And it truly was!!

What was your favorite part of your wedding?: I loved the ceremony. There were so many personal touches that all came together to make it so special - my sister sang as my parents walked me down the aisle, both our parents lit union candles, and our closest friends stood right next to us. Our pastor said to Jake and I, "Before we get to it, take a look at everyone around you. Look at how many people made the trip to be here for you guys." And it was truly how I imagined my wedding day - simply amazing!

Special Memories: I loved getting ready with my girls beforehand! Since we were out in the mountains, there was a 'Guys' trailer and a 'Gals' trailer for us to get ready in. We were all in one spot together and maybe a little more close and personal than planned! This made it super fun though!

The shoe game had to be one of my favorite parts of the ceremony! It was so fun to have everyone laughing along with us.

The food was amazing - bbq and mac and cheese! I didn't get a whole lot of time to eat so it was special to be able to sit down and enjoy it for about 5 minutes.

The cake was absolutely perfect and delicious! It was so special because it was made by our aunt's! It was fun to watch the whole process and see how it all came together.

My grandma Rosie was very close to me and she passed a short time ago. My Aunt's assured me she was there as a beautiful butterfly flew down the aisle to Jake and I as he kissed the bride!

What advice would you give to future brides?: It is important to have your vision and everything you want your day to look like. But once it comes, just relax and enjoy it, no matter what! There's nothing more you can do, and some things may be not be perfect, but that doesn't matter anymore. It's about you and your husband, and the family surrounding you! The one thing you remember for years to come is how you felt throughout the whole day - which is pure happiness!
